Private sector's role significant for tourism promotion: Minister Pandey

Kathmandu, Sept 2: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has said that the government would actively involve in development and promotion of tourism sector by widening the partnership of private sector. 

At the 46th annual general meeting of Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) organized here today, Tourism Minister Pandey stressed that the role of private sector in development and promotion of culture, tourism and civil aviation sector was indispensable.     

"The ministry is ready for the development of tourism sector by collaborating with private sector. The role of private sector is significant in development of tourism sector. The civil aviation sector should also be effective for the development of tourism sector", he underlined.     

Sharing that activities for the revision of tourism development policy, cultural policy and aviation policy for tourism development were underway, the Tourism Minister mentioned that a bill brought separating regulator and service provider agencies has reached the Law Ministry from Finance Ministry.     

On a different note, Minister Pandey expressed the belief that the alliance between the ruling parties would remain till 2084 BS.     

Similarly, Minister of State for Tourism, Arun Kumar Chaudhary, pointed out the need of coordination and collaboration among stakeholders for development of tourism sector.     

Likewise, TAAN President Nilhari Bastola laid emphasis on conservation and promotion of trekking route making TAAN business-friendly.     

The AGM would elect a new executive committee. There are 1397 voters in the election.(RSS)
