Karnali, Aug 30: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' said the government under his leadership had done a great deal in advancing the campaign of good governance against corruption.

In his address to a consultation meeting with central members and province office-bearers of Karnali beginning today in Birednranagar, he claimed that the Maoist-led government had kept a record against corruption and in the campaign of good governance.

"While it was creating hope and enthusiasm among the Nepali people, there was panic among the brokers, mafia and feudalists", he said, adding, "After the arrest of the absconding accused in the fake Bhutanese refugee case, the NC and UML leadership started panicking". As a result, the government was formed through an overnight agreement between the two big political powers which is crystal clear.

Prachanda, also the former Prime Minister, said "This is a big capital for the party and the movement. Now the big parties want to attack the Constitution promulgated through an assiduous struggle in the name of weakening us".

He also said that the government has unleashed new hope by resolving the problem of loan sharking in the areas of good governance, social justice and economic prosperity, making arrangements for getting citizenship to thousands of citizens without citizenship and involving millions of workers outside and inside the country in the social security fund

He also claimed that the Maoist-led government had worked to avert evolving economic crisis in the country through the policy initiatives.

Also present on the occasion were senior leaders of the party, including vice-chair Agni Prasad Sapkota and general-secretary Dev Gurung. The meeting will last on Saturday.(RSS)
