Lisbon (Portugal), Aug 30: Pokhara Gold Cup football tournament is to be held in Portugal.
The seven-a-side football
tournament will kick off from coming September 8 under the aegis of Pokhara
Football Club (Pokhara FC) Portugal.
The event is being organized also to mark the upcoming festivals of Badadashain and Tihar, Asbin Jung Thakuri, president of the club, said. The tournament is also expected to promote mutual support, cooperation and fraternity among the Nepali community in Europe.
Sports coordinator Prajesh Gurung
said that more than 20 teams will participate in the tournament to be held at
the Vitória Clube de Lisboa
in Lisbon, the coastal capital of
Portugal.
The winner team of the competition
will receive 3,000 Euros in cash along with the title while the runner-up will
win 1,500 Euros along with a trophy, medal and certificate.
Gurung said the club's also intends
to used funds generated through the event is to help Nepalis in distress in
Portugal and other EU countries. (RSS)
