Govt to give Rs. 300,000 cash reward to each women volleyball player

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 17: The government has decided to reward the 14 players of the CAVA Women's Nation's Volleyball League-2024 with cash of Rs. 300,000 each.

Likewise, the government decided to provide Rs. 200,000 for the main coach and Rs. 120,000 each for the manager, assistant manager and physio of the national team.

The Cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to reward the volleyball players, coach and others, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said on Friday while making public the cabinet decisions. 

Likewise, the cabinet meeting endorsed the India visit of Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba.  

The cabinet meeting approved Foreign Minister Rana’s India visit from August 18 to 22 leading a Nepali delegation.

During the visit, Foreign Minister Rana is scheduled to hold separate discussions with her counterpart S. Jaishankar in New Delhi. 

Along with Foreign Minister Rana, Chief of the South Asia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bhrigu Dhungana, and Under Secretary Sirjana Adhikari, among others, will be in the delegation. 

Minister Gurung said the cabinet meeting decided to approve the participation of officials of the Public Service Commission in a capacity-building programme to be held in the United Kingdom from September 21 to 30.

He said that the government decided to appoint Sudarshan Raj Pandey, judge of the High Court Pokhara, as the legal member and chairperson of the Revenue Tribunal Pokhara. 

The Cabinet meeting also decided to assign District Attorney Shriram Khanal of the District Government Attorney's Office, Kathmandu, as the secretary of the Nepal Bar Council. 

The government also decided to transfer 59 Joint Secretaries. 

Likewise, the cabinet decided to renew some of the manpower companies' registrations which had failed to send at least 100 Nepali migrant workers abroad in a year from fiscal year 2022/23 and 2023/24. 

The government permitted the establishment of sister-city relationships between Lalitpur Metropolitan City and Ulan-Ude City of Russia.

The cabinet meeting also formed a dialogue team of the Ministry of Finance to get concessional loan assistance of USD 150 million to be provided by the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank.
