Govt formed to instill hope among people: Minister Gurung

Gandaki, Aug 10: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said two major political parties collaborated to ensure political stability, economic development and good-governance.     

At a meeting of leaders organized by the CPN UML here today, Minister Gurung reiterated, "The incumbent government is formed to instill hope among people for development. The government will address the problems facing the country."     

According to him, two biggest parties- NC and UML- forming the government was a rare incident in the countries having democratic system, but it was not new for Nepal.     

"Nepali Congress (NC) and UML had joined hands in the past as well to address the problems facing the country. The incumbent government is formed with resolution of revival of national economy, generation of employment, and guarantee of good governance and prosperity," asserted Minister Gurung, also the Spokesperson of the government.     

He said that the government had no luxury to fail. These big and old parties must retain their relevance, Gurung underlined.     

"If the political parties that have struggled for democracy and republic do not deliver effectively, there is a risk of the regressive forces rearing their heads. We should be aware of it," he cautioned.     

The Minister observed that the state-owned agencies such as Nepal Telecommunications and postal services among others should be made competitive by improving their quality.     

The Minister shared that he had emphasized amendment of old communication policy and laws, and optimization of IT as per the 'Digital Nepal Framework'. (RSS)
