By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 18: Nabil Bank has expressed its willingness for corporate collaboration with Gorkhapatra Corporation to bring to public the historical and rare photos in the archives of the Corporation.

Nabil Bank is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the theme “40 and Further for a Sustainable Future” and on this occasion, the nation’s first joint venture bank has been hosting an exhibition of Gorkhapatra’s historical photos at its central office premises in Durbar Marg.

Besides showcasing dozens of photos from the archives of Gorkhapatra Corporation, the exhibition has also put on display rare coins and banknotes of Nepal which has attracted large number of visitors.

“We are glad to collaborate with Gorkhapatra Corporation with focus on the historical photos which highlight the fact that first schooling in corporate and banking news coverage started in the country with Gorkhapatra and The Rising Nepal,” said Upendra Poudyal, Chairman of Nabil Bank.

The historical photos on the display shed light on the transformation taking place in the banking as well as media coverage on banking and economic issues. We also want to explore new avenues of collaboration with Gorkhapatra including the digital archiving of old publications so that we can take these rare archived materials to the rural audience, said Nabil Chairman Poudyal.

“We have the reach of our banking branch in far-flung rural areas like Kalikot and we can use our office to reach the rural audience to showcase the digitally archived materials of the Corporation,” Poudyal said.

Poudyal’s forthcoming proposal was welcomed by Executive Chairman Bishnu Subedi and General Manager Lal Bahadur Airi of Gorkhapatra Corporation at a meeting held at Nabil central office.

Chairman Subedi said that the Corporation was effortful to collect, digitise and protect the historical photos and other published materials and the photo exhibition hosted by Nabil Bank reflected the opportunity to collaborate with the leading and credible bank of the country.

“Gorkhapatra Corporation is shifting away from old style and mindset of working and building new linkage and cooperation with the corporate sector including the banks is one of the tradition-breaking ideas,” said Chairman Subedi.

Chief Executive Officer of Nabil Bank Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana said that the bank was glad to host this historical photo exhibition that had opened new door for collaboration and cooperation between Gorkhapatra Corporation and the bank.

“We are willing to build long-term collaboration and cooperation with the banking sector and the Gorkhapatra photo exhibition organised in cooperation with Nabil Bank is an example of working together in an innovative approach,” said General Manager Airi.
