Online, Kathmandu, July 15: Minister for Communication and Information
Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has assumed the office today.
Minister
Gurung reached the Ministry at Singha Durbar to assume the office after taking
oath of office from President Ramchandra Paudel.
Gurung,
deputy general secretary of the CPN (UML), is an elected member of the House of
Representatives (HoR) from Lamjung district.
Earlier, Gurung was chief minister of Gandaki Province.
Born in 1958
BS, Gurung joined student politics and then was taken to custody twice for
being involved in teachers' movement in 1981.
As a leader
of the Party Area Committee of the then CPN (ML), Gurung initiated farmers
agitation in 1982 and anti Panchayat struggle in 1989 and as the coordinator of
the joint publicity committee for multiparty system of the CPN (ML) and Nepali
Congress during People's Movement I in 1990.
