By Our Correspondent,Jajarkot, July 7: Senior citizens throng the administration office to make their national ID cards. They were notified that if they do not possess the national ID card, government allowances would not be distributed to them.

When the government allowance was halted from distribution to those who do not have national ID cards, the news made all the senior citizens to gather at district administration office from all seven local levels, despite the bad weather condition.

Earthquake has damaged almost all the houses, including the cracking of land. Allowance was the only support provided by the government to old-age people and to solely achieve them they are assembling at the administration office. Old-age people from inaccessible rural areas such as Barekot, Kushae, Nalgadh Municipality, and Bheri Municipality are arriving with their national ID card, to enjoy their social security right provided by government.

Ramchandra Sharma, 86, a resident from Bheri Rural Municipality-11, claimed, as soon as they were notified about the national ID card, they proceeded towards the administration office on Wednesday. The government, instead of making the senior citizens’ life easy in their advanced age, is causing more trouble to them as they have to reach the administration office despite the poor weather condition.

Similarly, Karna Bahadur from Barekot Rural Municipality claimed to face a road barrier on his way from Barekot to district headquarters due to the submergence. Chairperson Mahendra Bahadur Shah from Barekot Municipality exclaimed that the right information was not conveyed by the province government which led the senior citizens to suffer at the risky time.

Harischandra Sharma, an administration officer from District Administration Office, said majority of old-age people arrived from Bheri, Nalgadh Municipality, Kushae, and Barekot Rural Municipality. Risking their life, senior citizens arrived at district headquarters facing a road barrier in this monsoon season. Umakanta Adhikari, Chief District Officer, asked not to spread misinformation.
