Road Caves-in near Sohrakhutte of Kathmandu

By TRN Online, Kathmandu,  July 2: A road section in Sohrakhutte, Kathmandu, has been caved in. 

According to the acting ward chair of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16, Pushpa Maharjan, water started leaking after a road collapsed with a loud sound at the wee hour of 5:30 on Wednesday morning. 

A pothole of 11 feet deep was formed at the Sohrakhutte-Balaju road section on Wednesday. A motorbike fell in a pothole. 

He said that it had been estimated that the origin of the water might have burst as the water started to leak after a loud thud. At first, the locals guessed that water might have leaked from a pipeline that was laid at the time of the then Prime Minister Juddha Shamsher but water continued to leak from potholes even after closing the water therefore, locals have predicted that the origin of water might have burst. 

According to the Police, the rider of a motorbike that fell on the ditch formed early this morning is safe.

The vehicular movement has been halted since early morning because of water leakage in the road.  

According to the acting ward chair, even though the road division office has started to work, water leakage has not stopped causing an issue.

 Preparations are underway to gravel the road and resume traffic as soon as the water leakage stops.
