By Kedar Timalasina,Bnaepa, July,1: The Transportation Management Office has been established in Banepa of Kavrepalanchowk district. On Saturday, Minister for Labour, Employment and Transportation Management of Bagmati Province Laxman Lamsal inaugurated the new office at a function.

Minister Lamsal said the first phase of the service of the office would start on Sunday, and all services would be provided from July 16, 2024.

The office will provide services such as vehicle registration, vehicle renewal, revenue collection and vehicle inspection among others.

Minister Lamal said it would take about two to three months for the office to provide other services. He said the office would deal with the traffic pressure along the Araniko and BP highways.

“The transport entrepreneurs have to go all the way to Kathmandu to deal with any issue that arises. Just to pay Rs. 3,000 tax, you have to wait for three days, which is expensive and a waste of your time”, said Minister Lamsal.

The province government is also planning to honour the best driver and the best co-driver, Minister Lamsal said.

He said to solve the problem of tax and middlemen, the provincial government was making efforts. He said,  “The entrepreneurs who have to pay fines for not paying taxes from the year 2013 to 2023 will get 50 per cent off on the fine amounts.

He also said the government would provide driving training for 500 females, and all the documents in the transportation sector would be digitalised.

Minister Lamsal said the government was planning to establish a garage to repair the public vehicles. He further requested the local level government to designate space for the establishment of the garage. Coordinator of the District Coordination Committee Deepak Kumar Gautam said that citizens should take services provided by the government easily and comfortably.

The Chief District Officer Surya Prasad Sedai said that the establishment of the transportation office would help the entrepreneurs.
