Province govt will collaborate with Gorkhapatra: CM Singh

By Laxmi Chaudhary,Janakpur, June 29: Chief Minister of Madhes Province Satish Kumar Singh has pledged to work with the Gorkhapatra Corporation. 

During a meeting with a team of the Gorkhapatra Corporation led by its Executive Chairman Bishnu Prasad Subedi in Janakpurdham, Friday, CM Singh said that it was essential for the Provincial Government to collaborate with the Gorkhapatra to provide the public with accurate information about the activities of the government and to tackle misinformation spread about the government. 

CM Singh further added that collaboration between the provincial government and the corporation was needed to document important events and works done in the province. 

He said the collaboration was also necessary to make the activities of the province government transparent and discourage the dissemination of misleading news.

On the occasion, Executive Chairman of the Gorkhapatra Corporation Subedi said that the Gorkhapatra Corporation and the Madhes Provincial Government could explore the areas of cooperation by doing additional homework. 

He said the corporation could play an important role in the development and promotion of tourism and cultures in Madhes. Likewise, General Manager Lal Bahadhur Airi said that the Madhes Provincial Government should take ownership of the Gorkhapatra to disseminate news about the works accomplished by the government.

He urged the Chief Minister to collaborate with the Gorkhapatra Corporation to make the plans, policies, law formulation processes of the government and journalism more effective.  

Acting Editor-in-Chief of Gorkhapatra Shiva Kumar Bhattarai said that the Madhes government should take ownership of the publications of the Gorkhapatra Corporation. 

The Gorkhapatra team also discussed the necessary training and interaction for the capacity building of Gorkhapatra’s district correspondents. 

The team also inspected the provincial office of the Gorkhapatra Corporation.
