Partner organizations commit to invest in Child Friendly Local Governance

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, June 27: Various agencies of the Nepal government and development partner organizations have expressed commitment to work together to promote the child friendly local governance.

The program was organized by the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration in collaboration with Child Friendly Local Government National Forum and Social Security Civil Society Network, on Thursday. 

Secretary Mukunda Prasad Niraula to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, said, "Although the government of Nepal and development partners have been working in the field of children and gender for a long time, but still there is discrimination between boys and girls and still some parents are not willing to invest on girls. I believe that the promotion of child-friendly local governance will address such problems."

He also expressed the commitment that the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration is ready to provide the necessary coordination and guidance to development partner organizations in order to bring this campaign to its peak.

The participant of the programs discussed about children being national pride, child-marriage free campaign, child sensitive social security, children and schools are peace zone area, campaign against child labor, Implementation of Act 2075 related to children, provision of children budget code needs to pay attention to children and girls security, cyber security, disaster friendly, paying more attention to building child-friendly structures, emphasized on the need to proceed with the child-friendly campaign.

In the program held with the support of UNICEF and World Vision International Nepal, it was concluded that child-friendly local governance strategies will be developed, child-friendly local governance implementation procedures will be studied and revised in a timely manner, and cooperation campaigns between the government and partner organizations at the same level and the private sector will be promoted.
