By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 12: Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has expressed concern over the challenges the world is currently facing, including climate change, environmental degradation, social inequality and economic instability.

Inaugurating the 30th International Sustainable Development Research Conference jointly organised by Nepal Open University and Mid-Western University in Lalitpur on Tuesday, Vice President Yadav said, “Nepal's efforts to empower rural communities through the promotion of renewable energy, forest conservation, sustainable agriculture and tourism are some significant examples of maintaining a harmonious relationship with the environment,” he said.

“Since the world is grappling with problems like climate change, the efforts of one country alone are not enough to mitigate these problems. No nation can address global challenges alone. Therefore, global solutions to global challenges are necessary,” he added.

Vice President Yadav also expressed his belief that the conference could inspire countries to move forward with a shared commitment to building a sustainable future by fostering the spirit of global cooperation.

Experts from various research backgrounds have gathered at the conference to share their knowledge, strategies and research.

He said, “I urge each of you to actively engage in discussions, share your scientific insights and present innovative solutions. It is necessary to advance by integrating traditional knowledge systems, the role of renewable energy, the need for conservation efforts and adopting cutting-edge technologies to address sustainability.”

He also stated that Nepal supports innovative solutions and cooperation in the field of sustainable development.
