A million jobs will be created in IT sector in ten years: Minister Sharma

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, June 11: Minister for Communication and Information Rekha Sharma has said that the ministry has set a target of providing direct employment to five lakh and indirect employment to a million in the next 10 years in the information technology (IT) sector.

She said that the government has already decided to mark the upcoming year as the starting year of the Decade of Information Technology and to establish IT as a pillar of economy.

We have a plan to develop Nepal as an IT hub, export services worth Rs. 3 trillion within a decade, she said speaking at a programme here today.

The Minister shared that discussions were being held to form a task force to settle problems and remove irregularities in the ICT sector. "The task force to be formed under the ministry will fix action plan with schedule setting milestones for each year."
