By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 10: Sunday’s session of the House of Representatives was postponed and scheduled for Tuesday, June 11 at 11 am as per a notice issued by Padma Prasad Pandey, General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat.
This delay is to allow parliamentarians sufficient time to review the materials about the annual development programme received from the ministries.
During a morning meeting at the official residence of Speaker Devraj Ghimire, attended by chief whips of major parties represented in the Parliament, it was decided to postpone today's session. The decision stemmed from the necessity for MPs to thoroughly examine the issues outlined in the budget documents. Among the potential agenda item for discussion was the Appropriation Bill, 2023. The Parliament Secretariat had slated discussions on various matters concerning the Ministries of Forest and Environment, Youth and Sports, Education, Science and Technology, and Labour, Employment, and Social Security under the bill.
Consequently, the House of Representatives sessions planned for today and tomorrow have been deferred to allow for a detailed consideration of the Appropriation Bill. Regular deliberations on the bill will commence on the 29th.
The Speaker's Secretariat announced that an adjournment notice had been issued owing to the parties' request for additional time to engage in discussions under the Appropriation Bill, 2023.
Attendees at the morning meeting at the Speaker's residence included Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, Nepali Congress Whip Sushila Thing, Communist Party of Nepal (UML) Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula, Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey, Rastriya Swatantra Party Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chief Whip Gyan Bahadur Shahi, Chief Secretary Dr. Baikunth Aryal, and General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Padma Prasad Pandey.
