By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 9: An anthology of poetry Cry No More Sita, an English translation of Mithili poems Naih Sita Nai was released at a function in Kathmandu on Thursday.
Renowned Maithili poetess and business woman, Bibha Vimarsh is the author of the original Maithili poems. Bimarsh has translated her poems into the English language.
The translated book was unveiled on the occasion of translator Bimarsh’s 18th birthday. Several distinguished personalities collectively released the book.
Prof. Dr. Ramawatar Yadav, Prof. Dr. Surendra Labh, Ramesh Ranjan, Sweta Dipti, Dhirendra Premarshi, Dinesh Yadav, Rupa Jha, Sneha Jha, along with lawmakers Krishna Kumar Shrestha and Manish Jha, expressed their views on the forms and contents of the original and translated books.
On the occasion, translator Bimarsh stated his thoughtful views and emotions as a translator, in a conversation with poet Vikas Vastanabh.
The original Maithili poetry collection of 49 poems on various issues was published in 2023. Translator Bimarsh translated all the poems of the book in about four months after appearing his high school exams.
Bimarsh writes in his translator’s note, “As a blacksmith offers to his wife, nothing but a metal ring, I offer to my mother and my mother tongue the most I can, this translation.”
