By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 8: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that federalism will be strengthened through effective delivery to the people, and everyone must take positive initiatives to realise this.
The Prime Minister said this during a discussion with officials of the Inter-Province Legislature Forum at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Friday morning.
Prime Minister Prachanda said, “The role you all have played in enhancing the effectiveness of the Parliament by creating the Inter-Province Legislature Forum is important. These types of discussions are necessary, the government will take the forum’s conclusions seriously and will strive to address them as much as possible.”
During the discussion, the Prime Minister acknowledged the ongoing debate between supporters and opponents of the Federal Democratic Republic and emphasised that the people should be ensured an effective delivery of services.
He said, “We are committed to strengthening the federal democratic republic and the effective implementation of the constitution. Opponents of federalism are trying to spread discontent with the system by attacking the provinces. We must discourage such tendencies and strengthen the provincial and local governments by delivering effective services to the people.”
The Prime Minister stated that he was taking initiatives to conclude the Federal Civil Service Act and the work of adjustment of police personnel.
He said, “I am taking the initiative to get the Federal Civil Service Act quickly endorsed by the Parliament and to complete the work of police personnel adjustment. Once these works are accomplished, the provincial and local levels will be stronger, and those who question federalism will turn weak.”
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chairman of the National Assembly, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Minister for Law, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Vice-chairman of the National Assembly, Speakers and Deputy Speakers of all seven provinces, Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal were present in the discussion.
