Gaun Aayeko Bato to be released today

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 7: Nabin Subba's film ‘Gaun Aayeko Bato’ (A Road to a Village) is set for a worldwide release on Friday. 

Subba, renowned for his acclaimed film ‘Numa Fung,’ has returned to the industry after a 20-year hiatus with this new project.

The film celebrated as an organic Nepali production has been showcased at numerous prestigious film festivals globally.

 It premiered in Kathmandu on Wednesday in a grand event attended by prominent actors such as Swastima Khadka, Keki Adhikari, Diya Maskey and Surakshya Panta, as well as politicians including Sudan Kiranti and Raguji Panta, Chef Santosh and others.

The premiere also featured the traditional Sakela dance, adding to the event’s cultural richness.

‘Gaun Aayeko Bato’ explores how the introduction of a road transforms the lives of a family that once thrived in their village. The film highlights the strong bond between a father and son, depicting the challenges and changes brought about by the new road in the life of Mahila (Dayahang Rai), who weaving bamboo in a remote eastern highland village for livelihood.

The film stars Dayahang Rai, Pashupati Rai, and child artist Prasan Rai in the lead roles.

 The script was co-written by Mahesh Rai and director Subba, with international cinematographer Josh Herum handling the cinematography.

Produced under the joint banner of Menchhyayem Pictures and Baasuri Films, the film promises to be a poignant exploration of progress and its impact on traditional village life.
