Karnali, June 5: The Karnali province government has presented its policies and programmes for the fiscal year, 2024/25 on Wednesday.
Chief of Karnali Province, Tilak Pariyar, presented the policies and programmes in the province assembly. He announced that the policies and programmes were focused on socioeconomic justice, poverty alleviation, employment generation and entrepreneurship development. It would contribute to the long-term vision of prosperity of Karnali people, Pariyar viewed.
The programmes as 'healthy soil, healthy life', 'one local level, one agro school', 'rise in organic agriculture, prosperity of Karnali' are included as announced by the Province Chief. There is a policy to intensify agriculture, education, health, tourism, infrastructure and hydropower projects.
Skills development and training centre would be established to engage youths in skills.
Boosting good governance, monitoring of cooperatives, making Karnali self-sufficient on meat and milk, preparing long-term plan on soil utilization, conducting employment fair and catering skills are included in the policies and programmes.
Eco-tourism, rural tourism, homestay, hospitality promotion, use of locally available raw materials and resources, innovation are also prioritized by the government.
The Chief of the province further informed that Surkhet Province Hospital would be developed as a specialized referral and teaching hospital. The quality health services would be provided in integrated and accessible manners.
Other issues explained in the policies and programmes are disaster insurance, tech-powered security system, expansion of Surkhet airport, digital education, 'Friday school without books', insurance to journalists, registration of news media, and capacity building of workforce on IT.(RSS)
