Everyone should unite for clean environment: Minister Sudi

Kathmandu, June 5: Minister for Forest and Environment Nawal Kishore Sah Sudi has said that everyone should work together to ensure a clean environment for the future generation.     

 Speaking at the World Environment Day celebration today held under the slogan of 'Our land is our future', he stressed on the need to protect the environment for a safe future. The programme was organized by the Department of Environment.     

Minister Sudi said that due to the problems caused by climate change, there may be drought, drinking water crisis therefore we should be aware of this matter in time and unite in the environmental protection campaign for the future generations.     

"The future of our children should be protected by protecting the environment. The government alone cannot do everything hence cooperation of all is necessary", he said.     

 Similarly, former Forest Minister Ganesh Sah argued that due to climate change, the snow in the mountains is melting. There are problems such as melting of mountains, forest fires, rising sea level, etc.     

 However, the impact on the mountains is being discussed at the international level", he said,     

Addressing the same event, acting Secretary of the Ministry of Forest and Environment, Pradeep Kumar Koirala informed that the government is implementing programmes with emphasis on environment-friendly development. (RSS)
