By Kabiraj Ghimire,Hile, Mar. 13: A multi-purpose community library is being set up at Sindhua of Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality in Dhankuta.
A three-storey library building is being constructed for Rs. 21.2 million in the joint investment of S.V.A Nepal-Read Nepal and Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality, Community Library and Resource Centre.
Of the total investment cost, S.V.A Nepal-Read Nepal has invested Rs. 16.2 million and Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality has invested Rs. 5.02 million.
Arjun Ghimire, President of the Construction Committee, said that not only books but also vegetable processing, homestay and various skill-based programmes would be conducted in the library buildingso as to develop community-based vocational and technical skills.
According to him, the aim is to make 300 youths self-employed in three years.
Read Nepal will support the operation of the library for three years. The library will have an audio-visual room and separate rooms for women, children and youth.
Likewise, the rooms will have different materials based on the interests of the target groups.
Similarly, there will be two different meeting halls for men and women.
Ghimire said five shutters would also be constructed to run the library sustainably. Almost 90 per cent of the construction work of the building has been completed.
The building construction began in April last year.
The library will come into operation after completion of the construction works within a few months.
