By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 5: The share market closed for the third time in a row with a positive circuit breaker on Monday. After NEPSE increased by 6 per cent, the stock trading was suspended for the whole day after 12:04 p.m.
In the first three minutes of trading in NEPSE, the first circuit took place after it increased by 4 per cent (79 points). After that, the market, which opened at 11:24, increased by one per cent to 5.03 per cent (98 points) within a minute, and then the trading was suspended for 40 minutes due to a positive circuit breaker for the second time.
After that, the stock market, which opened at 12:04 p.m., increased by one per cent to reach 6 per cent, and the trading will be closed for today. With the significant fluctuation, the NEPSE index has posted three-digit growth of 117.70 points and closed at 2,078 points.
The NEPSE index increased positively due to rumours of a change in government. There are usually significant fluctuations in the Nepali stock market when there are rumours of a change of government. The sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies increased by 19.54 points (5.58 per cent) to close at 369.27 points.
Even though the NESPE index increased significantly, the turnover dropped significantly in today’s transaction as compared to the transaction of Sunday. On Monday, a total of 934,919 shares worth Rs. 375 million of 237 companies were sold in 3,863 transactions. A total of 5,238,696 shares worth Rs. 2.05 billion had been sold on Sunday. The sub-indices of all groups, except mutual funds, have increased noticeably.
The sub-index of the life insurance group saw the highest growth of 617.95 points (6.32 per cent) followed by the non-life insurance and manufacturing and processing group whose indices increased by 448.77 points (4.38 per cent) and 346.58 points (5.15 per cent) respectively. The sub-index of hotels and tourism group increased by 281.33 points, development bank by 243.95 points and hydropower by 191.74 points on Monday.
Similarly, the other sub-index went up by 111.89 points, microfinance by 107.29 points, finance by 106.14 points and trading by 100.13 points. The sub-index banking group has posted a growth of 62.68 points while the investment group increased by 4.75 points. However, the sub-index of mutual funds has declined marginally by 0.01 points.
In today's transactions, the share prices of 230 companies increased while the share prices of only five companies declined. Share prices of five companies, including Ridi Power Company Limited, Shiva Shree Hydropower, Rapti Hydro and General Construction, Menchhiyam Hydropower and Reliable Nepal Life Insurance rose by 10 per cent in today’s transaction.
The share prices of almost three dozen companies including Asian Hydropower, Barahi Hydropower Public have increased above 9 per cent. However, the share price of NMB Sulav Investment Fund-2 has decreased by 1.95 per cent, NIBL Samriddhi Fund-2 by 0.69 per cent and NIC Asia Flexi CAP Fund by 0.12 per cent.
