New TU VC Baral pledges to implement new academic calendar

Kathmandu, Feb 23: The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University (TU) Prof Dr Keshar Jung Baral asserted that his first priority will be to develop an academic calendar and ensure its full implementation.

Talking to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) on Thursday evening upon his appointment to the post, new VC Baral reiterated, "The need of the hour is to make an annual academic calendar and to fully implement it. It is my first priority."

Stating that the TU was the largest structured organization and there were innumerable works relating to its reforms, Baral pledged to deliver for the timely holding of exams and result publication. "Apart from this, to update the TU's syllabus is also my priority," he added.

Baral was appointed to the post by Prime Minister and Chancellor of the University Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'.     

The newly appointed VC of the oldest university in the country received his appointment letter today itself, according to the PM Secretariat. He is scheduled to assume office at Kirtipur today itself. (RSS)
