Achham jeep accident: One child killed, 14 injured

By Shivraj Dhungana, Achham, Feb 21: A child has been killed and 14 others were injured when a jeep heading towards Sanphebagar from Lugra met with an accident at Lugra,  Chaurpati Rural Municipality-5, Achham. 

It has been said that the majority of the injured are students who were coming to school. 

Bhim Bahadur Saud, ward chair of Purbichauki Rural Municipality -4, said that the 18-month-old Ishan Khadka from Purbichauki Rural Municipality-4, Doti, was killed in a jeep accident. He was visiting his maternal home in Lugra with his mother. 

According to the District Police Office, Achham,  the injured have been identified as Dipendra Rawal, aged five, and seven-year-old Smile Rawal from Chaurpati Rural Municipality-5. The injured were rescued and taken to Bayalpata Hospital in ambulances and jeeps. 

The identification of the remaining injured is underway. 

The jeep with a registration number (Se 1 Jha 429) veered off around 150 meters down the road and got into a fatal accident near Aamrukh of Lugra. 

Police Inspector Rajendra Saud, Spokesperson at the District Police Office, Achham, said that the operation to take stock by reaching the accident spot is underway.
