8 dead, 18 injured in accident

By Rekhi Ram Rana, Palpa, Feb 13: As many as eight people have died and 18 others were injured in the jeep accident at Chidis in Tinau Rural Municipality-6 of Palpa district today.

According to Krishna Prasad Parajuli, Secretary at the Lumbini Medical College, Prabhas, Palpa, three injured are in critical condition. 

Heramba Sharma, superintendent of police at Palapa District Police Office, said that jeep with a registration number (LU 1Ja 2371) met with an accident at Chidis in Tinau Rural Municipality-6 of Palpa district at 4:45 PM.

He said, “Overload was the reason behind the accident. The accident occurred as the vehicle could not stop at the hill and went backward and also because of overloading  more than its capacity.”

The identification of the deceased is underway while the coordination with the hospital is going on for effective treatment of the accident-induced injury.


Tom Bahadur Pun, Ward chair of Tinau Rural Municipality-6, informed that eight passengers died on the spot. Both the injured and deceased have been rescued.
