Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has instructed the concerned
authorities to immediately provide the documents including the driving license,
national identity card and passports to those recipients who have completed the
procedures such as passing the driving test or submitting the forms.
PM Prachanda made the instruction at an integrated discussion on issues
related to driving license, national ID card and passports.
The discussion was held today at the Prime Minister's office in Singha
Durbar.
PM Prachanda took it as a serious issue that about 1.4 million service
recipients were waiting for getting driving license even after passing the
driving exams, and directed the Department of Transport Management to provide
the license immediately, according to the PM's secretariat.
"This is the age of technology. Information technology is especially
important of all. We have to focus on integrated technology and deliver the results.
For this to happen, state agencies should work in uniform and in a coordinated
manner," said the PM.
The PM
assured the concerned departments that he would ensure necessary budgets and
related policies for timely delivery of services. "I need the results. People
blame me for the failure although it is you, the departments, who are at the
delivery point."
Present in
the meeting were Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Purna Bahadur
Khadka, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Foreign
Affairs Minister NP Saud, Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister
Prakash Jwala, Chief Secretary of the Government Dr. Baikuntha Aryal, Secretary
of Home Affairs Dinesh Bhattarai, Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and
Transport Keshav Kumar Sharma, Director General of Department of Transport
Uddhav Prasad Rijal, Director General of Department of Passport Laxman Khanal, Director
General of Department of National ID Card and Records Yuvaraj Kattel, among others.
