Gandaki, Jan 4: Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Anita Devi said the constitutionally-bestowed responsibility and role to the local level was spectacular.
The Minister said this at the exchange of good practices and interaction, organized by Ministry's Provincial and Local Governance Support Project (PLGSP) Programme Coordination Unit, Babarmahal, Kathmandu, at Pokhara today.
She said the Constitution has considered local level as a crucial pillar of governance. The Constitution has bestowed some exclusive rights to the local level, Minster Devi said, stressing the need to fully exercise the constitutionally guaranteed rights for effective development works.
She further argued mutual exchange of best practices among local government units would also motivate to continue the programmes that can address the people's aspirations.
Chief Secretary of Gandaki province Laxmi Kumari Basnet said best practices of one local government unit can be an example for others.
She stressed the need to regularly review practical and legal challenges and present the case for reforms in legal and operational arrangements.
Present on the occasion were the chiefs and chief administrative officers of different 40 local government units within Gandaki province. (RSS)
