By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 30:Three works by Thakur Prasad Mainali, the former Vice-Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts and a distinguished senior sculptor, were unveiled amid a programme held in Kathmandu on Thursday.
The releases include Mainali’s collection of writings titled ‘Kalaka Kura’, a poetry collection ‘Mero Kamana’ and a comprehensive compilation titled ‘Thakur Prasad Mainali: Sirjana Ra Bibechana’.
The book-launch ceremony, jointly organised by Nepal Academy of Fine Arts and the Nepali Contemporary Sculptor Group called ‘Arambha’, saw a few notable people from the art sector.
Academy’s Chancellor Naradmani Hartamchhali, Vice Chancellor Lalkaji Lama, Member Secretary Devendra Thumkeli, Head of Sculpture Department Dineshwar Mahato, and Senior Sculptor Thakur Prasad Mainali jointly released the publications.
Chancellor Hartamchhali appreciated Mainali as a living source of knowledge, emphasising the exemplary nature of his personality and artistic endeavours within the context of Nepali art history.
He highlighted the importance of documenting and passing down the experiences of the previous generation, with Mainali being regarded as a living heritage.
Vice-Chancellor Lalkaji Lama highlighted the necessity of bridging the gap between generations to ensure the preservation of the artistic legacy contributed by earlier generations.
