Doctors protest at Patan hospital halting OPD services

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Nov. 7: All the services except for the emergency have been halted at the Patan Hospital in response to the beating of a doctor working there.

As the in-house doctors came to a demonstration demanding action against those who beat the doctors, only emergency service is on operation in the hospital.

Dr Dikshyanta Acharya said that until and unless action is taken against the attackers of the doctors as per the law, the demonstration will continue.

He expressed his dissatisfaction with the government and police administration for not taking any action against those who took hostage and beat doctors.

Dr Achraya, said, “On-duty doctors and nurses were assaulted and taken hostage for some time on Monday after the death of two senior citizens in the elderly ward.”

Doctors at the demonstration said that after the death of two inpatient senior citizens in elderly wards on November 4, Saturday, on-duty doctors and nurses were assaulted by angry relatives. They said that they will continue the protest until justice is served.
