International conference on role of veterinarians on public health held

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct. 5: The first ever joint international conference on public health with the theme “Role of Public Health Veterinarians to achieve Health Security through One Health Approach” has concluded.

80 public health veterinarians from 14 different Indian state and 70 veterinarians from Nepal gathered for the two-day joint international conference held recently here.

Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Narayan Kaji Shrestha presided over the function as the chief guest. 

In the first ever conclave of its kind 76 different scientific papers was presented. The conference was also conglomerated with 15th Biennial conference of Association of Public Health Veterinarians India, according to a press note issued by Dr. Sital Kaji Shrestha, Organizing Secretary of the Conference.

Life time achievement award was handed to Late Dr. Durga Dutta Joshi from Nepal and to Prof Dr. Nitya Nand Pathak from India.

Chairman of the conference of president of Veterinary Public Health Association Nepal Dr. Mukul Upadhyaya, office bearers from Indian side Prof. Dr. N. R. Pradhan, Prof Dr. Tapan Kumar Mandal, Prof Dr. A.K. Pramanik, Dean of Bihar Veterinary College Dr. JK Prasad, Prof Dr. Rashmi Singh from DUVASU Mathura were amongst many to preside over the function for various remarks. 

Papers on public health was presented from WHO Nepal, Nepali Veterinary Institutes. On the occasion various scientist from India and Nepal were awarded by Association of Public Health Veterinarians, India.
