3-year-old girl dies after snake bite, sister on ventilator in Kapilvastu

By Janu Pandey, Kapilvastu, Oct.4: Two sisters suffered from a snake bite, the youngest lost her life while the eldest is in lifesaving treatment at Kapilvastu district. 

A three-year-old Rita Chhetri and eight-year-old Ishika Chhetri from Bhalwad, Banganga Municipality-9, Kapilvastu were bitten by the snake on Tuesday night.

Father of the girls, Moti Lal Chhetri said that both the sisters got bitten by a snake while they were sleeping.  

Dr Netra Bahadur Rana, Spokesperson of the Lumbini Provincial Hospital said that younger sister Rita died while receiving treatment, while eldest Ishika is on a ventilator. 

After learning of the snake bite, both the sisters were taken to the Kapilvastu Snake Bite Treatment Centre, Gorusinge, at 4 AM.

Nabin Bhandari, Environmental Manager at Kapilvastu Snake Bite Treatment Center, Gorusinge, said that they were referred to the Lumbini Provincial Hospital for further treatment as both the girls were unconscious. 

One was bitten in the ear and the other in the hand.
