Vaccination against cervical cancer begins

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Sept 13: Vaccination of HPV to prevent cervical cancer has started in the country from today.

Minister for Health and Population (MoHP) Mohan Bahadur Basnet launched the HPV vaccination amidst a function at Paropokar Maternity and Women's Hospital.

The vaccine will also be available at all federal/provincial hospitals in all provinces across the country.

Launching the vaccination, Minister Basnet assured that the government will make arrangement for ensuring that all adolescent girls (running in 15 years, that is, 14 years completed but 15 years not exceeded) despite limited means and resources.

He said the vaccination campaign was launched from Paropakar hospital considering its history and contribution to treatment of women's illnesses.

The Minister shared that he was taking initiative to ensure that all districts will get the vaccine.

The government has procured 20,000 vials of the vaccine for the time being.

One should take the vaccine twice in an interval of six months.
