By Sher Bahadur Karki,Bajura, Aug. 2: Malika Secondary School has installed CCTV cameras in every classroom to closely monitor the activities of the teachers and students.

According to the school, the students have been attentive in class after the installation of CCTV.

Barsha BK, a ninth grader, said that earlier students were inattentive and easily distracted during the lessons. Now, after the installation of CCTV they have become conscious and cautious in their behaviour, she added.

She said, "If students are found not paying attention during a lesson, administration promptly calls them to the office. The constant monitoring by CCTV has made us more observant about our conduct."

Headmaster Shuva Raj Padhyaya Timilsina said that the students have started studying well after the installation of the CCTV cameras. He said that the school was trying to make the students familiar with technology with financial assistance from the municipality.

The municipality has also arranged for a nurse in the school. Since, most of the students suffered from cough, cold, fever, diarrhoea and other disease, a nurse was deployed in the school to facilitate the students with the basic health treatment.

Headmaster Timilsina said that the primary treatment facility had become more accessible after the presence of a nurse. He added that the school is expecting the municipality to continue the programme in the future.

At present, a total of 2,215 students comprising 1,125 boys and 1,090 girls are studying in the school.
