Jhingedaau wins Best Feature Film Award

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 12: 'Jhingedaau,' directed by Gyanendra Deuja, has won the Best Feature Film Award in the 2nd edition of the Nepal Rural Film Festival (NERUFF). 

The three-day film festival began on June 8 in Bhakunde Bensi, Kavre district concluded on June 10 by presenting awards in various genres.

Similarly, 'Prakash' has won the title of Best Screenplay while Mukun Bhusal and Deeya Maskey received the Best Actor and Actress Awards for their roles in 'Jhingedaau' and 'Prakash,' respectively.

Organised by the Celebrity Nepal Pratishthan in coordination with the Film Development Board, Nepal, the festival awarded the Best Feature Film Jury Award to 'Prakash.'

 Kamal Ekchai Magar,  director of 'Desan,' won the Best Director Award, while Chakra Bahadur Maharjan from the same film received the Best Cinematographer Award.

Likewise, 'Halkara' received the Best Documentary Award, and Dipak Acharya won the Best Director Award for his short film 'Katha Yekadeshko.'

Likewise, Gurung language film 'Aaphnai Karma' received the Best Language Film Award. The short film 'Paribartan' won three awards, including Best Short Film Jury Award, Best Short Film Director Award, and Best Short Film Actor, and Sarita Bharati, Dabbu Kshetri, and Prawan Bhusal respectively received these awards. 

The short film 'Charitra' received two awards-- Best Short Film and Best Short Film Actress.

 The festival's jury team included film editor Bharat Regmi, Raksha Singh Rana, immediate past president of the Film Directors Guild of Nepal, and artist Subash Prasad Gajurel. 

More than three dozen filmmakers participated in the festival, showcasing their films made in rural settings. The locals were delighted to sit and watch movies made in their villages, informed Raghunath Sapkota, the president of Celebrity Nepal.
