Gorkhapatra Corporation welcomes new Board Members Tiwari and Neupane

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, July 1: Newly appointed board members of the Gorkhapatra Corporation(GC) Nanda Lal Tiwari and Lekh Nath Neupane received a warm welcome on Thursday.

Tiwari and Neupane are permanent residents of Syangja Sirsekot -7 and Arghakhanchi, Panini -7 respectively.

They were appointed by the ministerial decision of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MoCIT) on May 31 for a four-year term. 

Both board members were welcomed at the corporation by Executive Chairman Bishnu Prasad Subedi and General Manager Lal Bahadur Airi. 

Welcoming the duo members Executive Chairman Subedi expressed his belief that both board members will play vital roles to increase the height of the corporation. He said that GC has been moving ahead with action and result-based work.

He said, “GC has always aimed to fulfill the responsibility towards state, citizens, and its profession. We are moving in a balanced way while maintaining income and expenditure even during these dire economic times. ”

Chairperson Subedi said that the smart Gorkhapatra campaign will be completed only with the coordination of everyone while expressing that the role of board members will be vital to further strengthen coordination between the ministry and corporation.

Similarly, GM Airi said that the biggest hurdle of GC right now is to make itself an independent entity.

GM also expressed his belief that newly appointed board members will join hands on the ongoing efforts to upgrade the market relevancy of GC and to be marked in a commercialized and professional market.

GM Airi said, “ Since the GC is under the leadership of young people who has experience in the journalism field, readers are feeling the difference. So, I hope that the newly appointed members will play their role in taking it to greater heights.”

Board Member Tiwari pledged to fulfill all commitments and responsibilities that he is entrusted to him as a board member. He said being appointed a board member of the Gorkhapatra, which carries a century long legacy, is a matter of pride in itself.   

He said, “My first priority is to continue with the internal development of permanent staff which was stale for a long time, and also, to expand service areas of the contract-based staff of GC.”

Tiwari said that the facility of internet services which were cut off will be re-established by coordinating with management. “There is no alternative but to advance the digital platforms of Gorkhapatra effectively.” He added.

Similarly, another board member Neupane said that he will play a bridging role to solve the Corporation's problems with the ministry. He said that he will play a role to take the government programs to completion as the government also has expectations from the corporation.

Similarly, Upesh Maharjan, the editor advisor of the Corporation said that GC has proved its stance and it is the responsibility of board members as well as editors to further smoothen it.

He said, “The responsibility of Gorkhapatra is to fulfill the dream of prosperity taken by the country by making itself more commercialized and it has now come on our shoulders.”
