By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 17: Minister for Communication and
Information Technology Rekha Sharma has viewed that both the service providers
and regulators should pay special attention to make information technology
related services easily accessible, reasonable and qualitative.
Minister Sharma put forth her
views inaugurating a seminar on 'Spectrum Management' organized today by Nepal
Telecommunication Authority on the occasion of World Telecommunication and
Information Society Day.
She said service providers
should think seriously about the fact that there is no qualitative mobile
services in remote areas and reminded that the government is striving to narrow
the gap between those who have and don't have access to IT.
"I hope this seminar will
discuss and review issues related to problems and shortcomings as well as the
improvement in communication sectors," she said.
She also pointed at the need
for a serious discussion on diminishing trend of the revenue from the sector
although use of IT was increasing growing. She also made it clear that both the
private and government sectors should increase investment in IT sector.
