35 climbers granted permission to scale Dhaulagiri

By Thakur Prasad Acharya, Myagdi, April 27: 35 climbers have taken permission to climb Mount Dhaulagiri, the seventh highest mountain in the world, during the spring season. Those who have taken permission have already reached the base camps and are waiting for the favourable weather at the summit. 

They are going to climb Mt Dhaulagiri under the management of Seven Summit, Elite, and Pioneer Adventure. 

Yubraj Khatiwada, Director of the Tourism Department said that this season, 24 men and 11 women have received permission to submit the 8,167-meter high Dhaulagiri, located in Mudi, Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-4, Myagdi. 

According to the Department of Tourism, Rs 8,154,170 royalty has been collected from summiteers of this season. 

Thaneshwar Guragain, a manager at the Seven Summit Treks, said, 25 climbers, managed by seven summit treks, have reached the base camp of Mount Dhaulagiri, but are stuck there due to bad weather. Climbers will ascent as soon as the weather improves. 

Indra Singh Sherchan, a Tourism businessman, from Annapurna Rural Municipality-3, who returned by being from base camp, said that there is a challenge for roads to operate because of snowfall. 

Saying that it has been difficult to build a road, he said, “Sherpa’s are trying to clean the road and bring it into operation. Lately, the weather is improving. If the road comes into operation, then climbers will scale the peak.”

 Climbers have experienced that climbing Mt. Dhaulagiri is challenging because of unstable weather. 

Likewise, 53 people have taken permission to climb Mt. Annapurna I, located at Narchyang, Annapurna Rural Municiplaity-4, 8,091 meters in height.  

According to the Department of Tourism, RS 10, 426,410 royalty have been collected this season from climbers to summit Mt Annapurna I.
