Ram Nawami celebrated with fanfare

By Our Correspondent,Bara, Mar. 31: Ram Nawami was marked with great fervour in Bara on Thursday, with ritual Pujas being performed at the Ram Janaki temples across the district and cultural rallies being held at various locations.

In Mahagadhimai Municipality–10, a rally began at 10 am from the Hanuman Temple and passed through Gunjbhawanipur, Dahiyar, Malhani, Bagdampur and Bijalpur, informed the temple's priest Jagat Narayan Tiwari. Participants of the rally also carried flags featuring Ram's name and image. 

The ninth day of the bright fortnight of the Nepali month of Chaitra is celebrated as Ram Nawami or the birthday of Lord Ram. As this festival falls during the Chaitra Navaratri, Ram Nawami is celebrated by worshipped both God Ram and Goddess Durga.

According to sages and religious experts, those who fast and pray to Lord Ram on Ram Nawami get their wishes fulfilled and enter the eternal heavenly realm of Baikuntha after death.

The government of Madhes Province also declared a public holiday on Thursday.
