Kathmandu, Feb 9 : The Ministry of Land Management and Cooperatives has put forth a plan to gradually transform the offices of land revenue and survey into IT-enabled service delivery hub.
In order to transform the
traditional record-keeping and service delivery system into digital, the
ministry came up with the plan.
Ministry Secretary Dr Damodar Regmi
said the ministry has set a target to expand geo-coded information system and
land service centre in all land related offices and provide land owners the
digital number.
"With the mero kitta system in
place, land owners can receive their land map from home. Budget crunch has
appeared as a big challenge to digitize and archive over 10 million paper
documents of the land revenue offices as part of the transformation
process", secretary Regmi said.
He shared that directive has been
issued to the subordinate departments of the ministry to integrate the
information system of the land revenue offices and survey department to ensure
effective service of land administration in the current fiscal year.
According to him, now the country
has a total of 21 land reforms and 110 land revenue offices. Likewise, there
are 131 survey offices and seven special survey offices in the country.
Annually the offices have been
raising revenue amounting to Rs 150 billion. Out of the revenue generated, Rs
50 billion is remained at federal level, Rs 60 billion at local level and Rs 40
billion at province level. (RSS)
