Kumar Dashaudi elected NA member

By Liladhar Oli, Dang, Feb. 8: Kumar Dashaudi of CPN (UML) from the ruling alliance has been elected as a member of the National Assembly (NA).

Dashaudi won by receiving 4,026 vote weightage out of the cast 7,900 vote weightage. He received 2,064 weightage from the province and 1,962 vote weightage from local levels.

Nepali Congress' candidate Madhav Prasad Acharya received 3,720 vote weightage- 1,776 from the province and 1,944 from local levels. 

A total of 304 vote have been cast out of 305 as the deputy chief of Marchwar Rural Municipality in Rupandehi district did not participate in the poll.

Of the voters, 87 members of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly and 217 chiefs and deputy chiefs of local levels in Lumbini cast their votes for the vacant post of a member of the NA from Lumbini province, according to Gehenra Kunwar, information officer at Provincial Election Office, Dang.

Vote weightage of PA member is greater than that of the chief or deputy chief of the local level although all three are the voters for the NA members.

The by-election was held following resignation of Khimalal Bhattarai from the post of NA member.
