By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Jan 26 : The 6th edition of Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF) will be held from March 16 to 20 at QFX cinema halls in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur.
Organising a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday, the organiser, Nepal Film and Cultural Academy, announced the festival date.
Earlier last year, the NIFF had inked an agreement with QFX to screen the films in its halls in the festival.
Accordingly, the films selected for the festival will be screened at Chhaya Centre and Civil Mall in Kathmandu, Labim Mall in Lalitpur and QFX Hall in Bhaktapur.
According to the organiser, 95 films from 35 countries have been selected from over 500 entries from 55 countries for the festival.
The festival will have various workshops, interactions and discussion programmes with notable figures of the film industry, it was informed at the press meet. There will be competitions of national and international features, shorts, and documentary films while 14 awards will be presented to the winners.
Chairman of Film Development Board Bhuwan KC, artistes Nir Shah, Gauri Malla, Deepa Shree Niraula, Nirmal Sharma, Rejina Upreti, Sarita Giri and others were present in the press meet.
Speaking at the programme, FDB Chairman KC called the NIFF-2023 announcement meeting was historic.
“Film Development Board has been supporting NIFF from the beginning. It will also support this time. And I believe that it will be done in the future as well. I will try my best to ensure government support to NIFF,” said KC.
