By Mina Kandel, Kawasoti, Jan 25: Construction work of the road upgrading of the Narayanghat-Butwal section has been completed only 23 per cent so far, and it has been at a very slow pace.
However, the construction work of bridges has been intensified.
There are 215 culvert, 22 minor-size bridges and 25 bridges with lengths more than 25 meters in the Daunee-Gaidakot section of the East-West highway.
According to the deputy contract manager of China state construction, Rajesh Jha, construction of 80 bridges have been finished and 60 bridges are in the work-in-progress phase while 25 are being constructed.
The upgradation of the road section, a project worth Rs. 16.99 billion, is moving forward.
Out of the total estimate, 85 per cent has been funded by the Asian Development Board (ADB) loan and the remaining by the government.
