Chinese Embassy hosts reception to mark New Year

Kathmandu, Jan 19: The Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Kathmandu hosted a reception here this evening to welcome the newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song and celebrate Chinese New Year (Year of the Rabbit).  

Present on the occasion were National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, former Prime Ministers Jhalanath Khanal and Dr Baburam Bhattarai, sitting ministers, lawmakers, former ministers, diplomats from different countries based in Nepal, Nepali Army senior officials and others dignitaries.

Speaking at the event, National Assembly Chair Timilsina expressed gratitude for China’s continuous support to Nepal socio-economic development endeavours. 

Likewise, Ambassador Chen said he was impressed by the goodwill gestures shown by Nepalis towards China and expressed the confidence that the projects under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) framework would advance ahead in bilateral partnership, while making best possible commitment from China. 

Cultural performances of both Nepal and China were made to mark the occasion. (RSS)
