Kathmandu, Jan 19 : The process to elect Speaker in the House of Representatives (HoR) is ongoing at the parliament building in New Baneshwor. According to the parliament agenda, election of the HoR Speaker will be organised in today's HoR meeting.
Devraj Ghimire from the ruling
coalition partner, CPN (UML) and the Nepali Congress Ishwori Devi Neupane are
vying for the coveted post.
Ghimire has been proposed for the
position by UML's Vice Chair Subas Nembang, and seconded by Hitraj Pandey,
chief whip of the ruling alliance partner, CPN (Maoist Centre) Parliamentary
Party, Rajendra Lingden, Chair of another ruling coalition partner Rastriya
Prajatantra Party, and Rabi Lamichhane, Chair of another ruling alliance
partner Rastriya Swatantra Party.
Similarly, Neupane has been
proposed by NC General Secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma, and seconded by the CPN
(Unified Socialist) leader Pakash Jwala. (RSS)
