CM Karki gets vote of confidence

Kathmandu, Jan 13: Chief Minister of Province-1, Hikmat Kumar Karki, has got vote of confidence on Friday.

Chief Minister Karki had presented the proposal for the vote of confidence in accordance with Article 168 (d) of the Constitution, and Rule 128 (d) of Province Assembly Regulations, 2074 (First Amendment) of Province-1. 

A total of 59 votes were cast in favour of CM Karki while 32 votes—28 of the Nepali Congress and four of the CPN (Unified Socialist) were against him. A Province Assembly member of the Nepali Congress, Pradeep Sunuwar, was absent in the voting.

Chief Minister Karki had requested for the trust vote, urging the political parties to move ahead together at a time when no political party got majority votes during the recently held election. 

He also called all political parties to implement the constitution and respect people's mandate. CM Karki said, "Let's build the nation together."

The next meeting of the province assembly has been scheduled for January 14.(RSS)
