UML's Karki claims for chief minister in province 1
By Gokul Parajuli, Biratnagar, Jan 8: CPN (UML) parliamentary party leader of province 1 Hikmat Kumar Karki has claimed the post of the chief minister.
Within the period for claiming the post given by the province chief Parshuram Khapung, Karki submitted the claim for the chief minister before 4 pm with the signatures of 60 provincial assembly members.
Out of 93 provincial assembly members one needs 47 members' support to be elected as a chief minister in province 1.
Karki garnered the support of UML's 40, CPN (Maoist Centre)'s 13, Rashtriya Prajatantra Party's six and Janata Samajbadi Party's one provincial member.
