By Mina Kandel, Kawasoti, Jan 4: Nawalpur is being developed as a self-reliant district for fisheries.
This year, Nawalpur farmers sold fish worth Rs 210 million in a year, thanks to the expansion of the fisheries.
According to the Fisheries Development Officer of the Nawalpur, Sandip Lamichhane, 1,500 farmers have benefitted from the fisheries in the district.
He said that fisheries have become reliable for those who have followed this professionally in the district.
Fisheries have been spread over 11.3 hectares of Nawalpur's Kawasoti, Devchuli and Madhya Bindu areas by constructing new ponds under the Professional Agriculture Production Centre Fish Block Programme.
