Mayor Shah sues EC over fines at SC

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan 3: Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Balendra Shah has filed a petition in the Supreme Court (SC) against the fine imposed on him by the Election Commission (EC).

Mayor Shah submitted an application to the Constitutional Bench on Tuesday. 

Shah was fined for late submission of election expenses incurred on the May 13 election. 

EC has fined Mayor Shah a sum of Rs 7,50,000 for delayed submission of the expense details he made in his election campaign for the post of KMC Mayor during local polls held on May 13, 2022. 

Shah said that he has submitted the expense detail of Rs 3,94,489 to the EC though the expense limit was Rs 7,50,000.
