Beautification of roads in full swing in Damak

blog

By Bishnu Prasad Pokharel,Damak, Jhapa,  Jan. 3: The work of beautification of the roads in the main market area of Damak, in Jhapa district, is going on in full swing.  As part of the road beautification campaign, works such as removing unorganised wires on the side of the road, removing old electric poles and replacing them with new ones and making them attractive through painting have started.

Mayor of Damak Municipality Ramkumar Thapa said that the work of putting up two-way electricity poles and painting the road as well as making the road attractive is nearing completion. Beautification of the 1km road 0from the main Ganatantra (republic) Chowk of Damak to the main market and Namuna market via Thana Road is about to complete. Attractive lights have also been installed.

As part of the road beautification campaign, the removal of jumbled up footpaths, the installation of railings on both sides of the road, and the planting of potted plants and fruit plants on both sides has already been completed. “We are working in such a way that when we enter Damak Bazaar and the main area of Damak, we will feel the change,” Thapa said.

Thapa also said that due to the haphazardly dangling electric wires on the poles by various internet provider and telecom companies, the risk of electric shock has increased and the market area looked grotesque.

Beautification work has been easy because of the wide roads. In the main market area of Damak, a big project for waste and sewage disposal is being implemented and the wrecked roads are also being blacktopped. Most of the roads will be made of high standards within a few months.

To make the road itself a tourist spot in Damak, a model road has also been built in the market five years ago. Flowers, water fountains, various plants, and sitting chairs have been placed there. The beautification of the roads leading to the same model route from the main chowk is currently in the works.
