BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu, Dec. 19: Ramesh Vikal Shahitya Pratisthan awarded senior essayist and culturist Tejeshwor Babu Gonga with Ramesh Vikal Bangmaya Award of this year. The award carries a purse of Rs. 50,000.
Similarly, social worker Sapana Roka has been awarded with Ramesh Vikal Sushila Samajsewi Award. It carries a purse of Rs. 20,000. Roka has been cremating unclaimed bodies for free in the Pashupati area.
Likewise, Ramesh Vikal Sirjana Award was handed over to senior critic Ramesh Gorkhali and Ramesh Vikal Bal Shahitya Award to child author Laxmi Upreti. Dharma Sheela Chapagai has been awarded with Ramesh Vikal Sangharshasheel Samman. Each award carries a purse of Rs. 10,000. Ramesh Vikal Shahitya Pratisthan general secretary Bijay Chalise informed that the awards were presented amid a programme organised on the occasion of the 14th Vikal Memorial Day.
The prizes were distributed by Ramesh Vikal Shahitya Pratisthan chairman Rochak Ghimire, provincial assembly member Chhiring Dorje Lama and Gokarneshwor Municipality Mayor Dipak Risal in the programme inaugurated by newly elected House of Representatives member Santhosh Chalise.
Two collections of stories by Ramesh Vikal were also launched at the programme. Likewise, Chanda Sekhar Ramesh Vikal Research Award was presented to Ramesh Pokharel of Gorkha for completing MPhil in ‘Representation, Identification and Resistance of Ramesh Vikal in Novel’. The award carries a purse of Rs. 20,000.
